What is this Project all about Anyways?
The purpose of this project is to find out what happens when you give the public a living piece of art and ask them to document their journey with it.
Will they even do it? Or will they be given away and forgotten about? Will they come up with new and unique ways of working with the new medium? Will it spark the creative juices of people otherwise not deemed "artists" in the traditional sense? Will it cohere the group together to keep expressing themselves in creative ways? Together? Separately?
My main goal is to bring people together in two ways that I believe are important to the Human condition and has been the bedrock of our evolution and survival throughout the ages.
Creativity, and a deep connection and relationship to Nature.
The world now, more than ever, needs us to remember this. Our creativity allows us to imagine new solutions to the ever-expanding problems we face. And as we dive more and more into the digital world, our relationship with Nature is fraying.
And what better way to reestablish that relationship than by cultivating a relationship with mushrooms- a kingdom we humans share more in common with than plants?
And hopefully, reestablish connections between each other again in a way that honors what makes us truly human and helps us remember this fact:
We are Stewards of this Earth. Tasked to assist in caretaking the beautiful and varied life that exists in this beautiful gem, teeming with life, floating through the vast expanses of sterile space.
Like White blood cells, we can protect and clean up our earth, or we can go rogue and become cancerous. I look around and see more and more people choosing the former and not the latter.
This project is a way to start to reconnect us to that which we have forgotten.
And have some fun and make great Art while doing it.
